We don't make any promises or offer any deals. We believe the ancient art of Muay Thai is a lifestyle of hard work, challenges and honor. Coban's Muay Thai NYC Camp and Camp Lookchaomaesaitong live and breathe Muay Thai. They know Muay Thai the way it has been taught for centuries, old school and authentic. We will train you the only way we know how. Trainings are hard and will challenge your endurance, both physically and mentally. Our hope is that you don't focus only on fighting or earning a belt, but that you strive to become a better, stronger and honorable person.
Muay Thai TRAINING IN NYC:
Classes are held Monday through Saturday. Classes are one-hour long, and some are 90-minutes long (Advanced).
Beginners are welcome to join any of the classes, except for Sparring/Clinching and Fighters Camp. We are open and friendly to everyone, regardless of their level of experience.
In order to maximize everyone's time and effort, Ajarn Coban has broken down the level of training as follows:
Beginners class: Basic techniques and fitness exercises at low-moderate intensity.
All Level class: Basic and intermediate techniques and fitness exercises at moderate-high intensity.
Advance Level class: Intermediate and advanced techniques and fitness exercises at high intensity. Clinching and sparring can be covered. Sparring, however, is optional and participation must be approved by Coban.
Sparring and Clinching class: To ensure everyone's safety, please observe the following rules:1. When sparring in the ring, everyone must have their OWN protective gear: headgear, shin guards, mouthpiece and gloves (at least 16 oz).
2. Only students with 6 months of experience are allowed to spar in the ring, and only two people sparring in the ring at a time.
Muay Thai Conditioning class: Calisthenics, Plyometric, Cardiovascular and strength training exercises. Some light padwork may be covered. Muay Thai is effective stand-up training for those training for Mixed Martial Arts, MMA, etc.
Wai Kru: Ajarn Coban will teach the school's Wai Kru, and give students an opportunity to learn and experience the life in a Muay Thai camp.
Meet & Greet: This is a FREE intro to Muay Thai class where member students, their friends and non-members can get to know each other, and learn about Muay Thai. There may or may not be regular training during this class. Ajarn Coban might review the very, very basics, such as how to hold Thai pads, how to wrap hands, learn about fighting stance, etc.
Fighters Camp: This is a 4-hour long training camp that is modeled after Coban's training during his time at Camp Lookchaomaesaitong. You must have at least 6 months of experience and pass a techniques and physical endurance test in order to participate. In order to ensure everyone's safety, ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS will be made. After the initial orientation, participants are expected to work independently and with discipline. Ajarn Coban will not hold your hand and guide you through every minute of training.
OVERSEAS TRAINING:
CAMP LOOKCHAOMAESAITONG, BURIRAM, THAILAND
Mr. Nipon Chotison and the trainers stress that Camp Lookchaomaesaitong is not a resort camp. There are two training sessions: in the morning and in the evening. Trainings are serious and rigorous, and they are prescribed exactly as they always were. For beginners and intermediate level practitioners, the trainers will adjust accordingly, but be prepared to work hard, regardless.
During downtime, we give you opportunities to engage in the normal day-to-day life in Buriram. For example, we provide a free tour of the Pan-Nom Rung Hill ("Stone Castle"). We open our home to offer you free Thai cooking lessons. On the weekends, if you want, you can do public service work with the Monks. Also, you may make a daily pilgrimage to the Temple or participate in events, such as Songkran (Thai New Year festivities in April) or Loi Kratong (Festival honoring the River in November).
We strive to make your Muay Thai Training experience as real and as authentic as possible.
